The PTO introduced the Read-a-thon fundraiser to Park View last year during the month of February!
It was a huge success, bringing in over $25,000 total donations and we can't wait to do it again this year.
What is the Read-a-thon?
With the help of their grown ups, Park View students registered for the Read-a-thon, created a fundraising goal, and pledged to read for a certain amount of minutes per donation or dollar raised. They sent their personal links out to friends and family to solicit donations.
Our school community did what it does best and really showed up for the students. Because of the generosity of their families and friends, we blew right past our original fundraising goal of $5,000 within the first few hours of the the 2 week long fundraiser. It was truly astonishing!
When is the Read-a-thon?
The Read-a-thon will take place again this school year during February. We will begin rolling out communications about it right after our students return from Winter Break. Make sure you're registered and subscribed to receive communications from the PTO about the Read-a-thon and all the other fun and important things happening in our school community throughout the year.
Why participate in the Read-a-thon this year?
We loved running this fundraiser because it emphasizes the importance of reading at every age. Younger students were read to by their parents, grandparents, siblings, aunts/uncles, etc. Other students read to themselves, out loud to their family members, and even to their family pets! There were so many stories shared, memories made, and new favorite books discovered.
Students were also rewarded for their participation in the Read-a-thon last year in a number of ways. The highest earning student in the school won the grand prize of Principal for the Day. The top earning classroom got a Kona Ice Truck party and enjoyed snow cones during the school day! The top 6 earners in each grade level were picked to be contestants for Wheel of Wisdom - a trivia game show assembly that we surprised the school with this year.
Our Read-a-thon Goals for 2023
Our goal this year is 100% student participation in every grade level for the Read-a-thon. Help us make it possible by signing up to receive informative emails from the PTO throughout the school year so we can directly communicate with you about the Read-a-thon and other school related events and fundraisers.
